Aero Insider’s Guide to ATL Airport Employee Parking (FEBRUARY 2024)

Is your airport parking provided by your employer? If so…

Then consider yourself lucky.

If you’re one of the many who don’t receive employee parking and you have wondered “Where do Atlanta airport employees park?”, this guide is for you.

Looking for the best options for employee parking at the Atlanta airport?

Below, we’ve put together the best commute options to make airport employee parking a more cost-effective and reliable experience.

What Types of Parking Options Do Atlanta Airport Employees Have?

Typically, there are three different types of parking for ATL employees:

  1. Parking operated by ParkATL as the official parking of the ATL airport.
  2. Private, off-site parking operators that are located outside of the airport property.
  3. Parking managed by airport employers for the exclusive use of their employees, like Delta employee parking.

This guide mainly covers the first two options, as they are open for any employee to park. If you are looking for Delta Air Lines employee parking, including Delta employee parking on Camp Creek Parkway, check with your manager or a Human Resources contact.

The map below shows the ParkATL locations in blue and the private, off-site lots in green.

How to Decide Where to Park

Information and pricing are always being updated, so there are a few variables to consider when you’re looking for parking:

Daily Cost

  • Booking online and in advance is often cheaper than just showing up to park, so it’s worth checking online first for the best deal.
  • Keep an eye on the fees associated with daily rates, such as booking fees (which can be as high as $5.95 per day) and fuel surcharges for shuttles.
  • As of the time of this writing (February 2024), the daily rates range from $20.95 to $22.20 a day. Shopping around for a few options is recommended.

Lot Location and Shuttle Times

  • Which lot is closest to where you live?
  • How long is the shuttle ride from the parking lot to the airport?

Rewards Programs

  • Most of the private off-site lots offer rewards programs, such as one free day of parking for every 5-7 days you pay to park. If you park frequently for work, these rewards programs can significantly reduce your overall parking costs.

Other Miscellaneous Factors to Consider

  • Do they have an app that simplifies the booking process
  • Does the app feature a live shuttle tracker
  • Do they offer electric vehicle charging?

How to Cut Parking Costs in Half by Sharing a Ride

Let’s cover carpooling to the Atlanta airport.

What is carpooling, exactly?

The answer might seem obvious, but carpooling is just sharing a ride to work with someone else that also works at the Atlanta airport. And it offers a lot more benefits when those rides are tracked on the GA Commute App. More on that shortly.

In addition to being way less expensive than ridesharing services like Uber or Lyft, carpooling could allow you to park directly at the airport and still save money.

For example, if you and a coworker share the ride to work, you could start using the parking lots right by the airport for $7 a day per person (when you split the cost… even less if your carpool is you and two other coworkers). For less than the price of the off-site lots, you can skip the need for that annoying shuttle and save 20-60 minutes of your time in the process. Every day.

Already know coworkers that live in the same general area? That’s your best start. But if you don’t know anybody to share a ride with…

Aero is here to simplify this process using our community of airport workers that are also looking for people to share a ride to work. Check out our complete guide to carpooling to the Atlanta airport.

Here’s an example…

Dionne & Claudette

Dionne and Claudette joined the Aero Insider program and and started sharing a ride to work… saving money and even more importantly, sharing the stress of driving every day (sometimes Dionne drives, sometime Claudette drives).

Becoming an Aero Insider is easy (and always free)… get our 5-step plan for a better trip to work. This will give you a  a step-by-step process to find people to share a ride with and cut your costs in half.

With Aero, you have the ability to cut your parking (and gas) costs in half, and also… get paid $150 in cash. What’s that now? Read on.

And the best part? It’s completely free because Aero is a program of the ATL Airport Community Improvement Districts.

How to Stack Parking and Aero Insider Rewards

When you share a ride to work with someone else that works at the airport you have the potential to multiply the rewards you receive. It’s a win/win.

For example, if your parking provider offers a free day of parking for every 5 – 7 paid days, these can add up quickly.

On top of that, you can stack rewards you earn with Aero for carpooling, including $150 in cash rewards for each person in the carpool. Plus, you can earn points for insider discounts and chances for monthly $25-$40 gift card giveaways.

All you have to do is:

  1. Sign-up or log-in to a My Georgia Commute Options account
    – Or get the GA Commute App
    1. Get it here on the App Store
    2. Get it here on Google Play
  2. Record your trips for 30 days (check out our video on recording a trip)
  3. Get paid (and don’t forget, you are also cutting your parking costs in half)
