Introducing MARTA Connect: Get $8 off your early morning Uber or Lyft rides to ATL Airport jobs!

If you have to work the first shift at the airport, we know what a struggle getting to work can be. Aero is thrilled to introduce MARTA Connect, the game-changer you’ve been waiting for.

With MARTA Connect, you’ll receive an $8 credit per day for rides on Uber or Lyft between 4:00 AM and 6:30 AM, Monday to Friday.

This credit will help you save money on transportation to those early morning shifts, so you can then rely on MARTA trains and buses to get back home. Say goodbye to costly commutes and hello to a more convenient and affordable way to travel.

How MARTA Connect works

Using MARTA Connect is easy:

  1. Add the MARTA Connect pass/voucher to your account:
  2. Take an UberX or Standard Lyft ride between 4:00 AM and 6:30 AM, Monday to Friday only.
  3. An $8 credit will be applied to the ride. The remaining balance will be charged to your default payment method.

See the Frequently Asked Questions below for more program details.

Who will MARTA Connect help?

First-shift airport employees know that MARTA starts running at about 5:00 AM, but the first trains don’t arrive at the airport station until 5:30 a.m. This is simply too late, so many employees turn to Uber or Lyft.

In fact, in Aero’s 2023 Trip to Work Survey, for some employee groups, 16-33% of all trips to work are by Uber and Lyft. And we all know just how expensive this can be. In fact, average Uber prices rose 92 percent between 2018 and 2021!

The new MARTA Connect service will reduce the cost of these trips with an $8 daily credit. Employees can then use MARTA trains and buses to get back home at the end of day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Aero recently talked to the MARTA Connect team to ask about program details. Here is what we learned:
  • How many times can the $8 credit be used? The credit can be used only one time per day.
  • What days of the week can the $8 credit be used? The MARTA Connect program only works Monday-Friday as of right now. (Aero has asked MARTA to extend this program to seven days a week. We will keep pushing to get the program expanded.)
  • What parts of Atlanta are covered? To be eligible for the $8 credit, a trip must begin and/or end within Clayton, Fulton, or Dekalb Counties, as this is the area MARTA serves. Therefore, any trip going to jobs located at or around the airport will be eligible for the $8 credit.
  • What times of day are covered? To be eligible for the $8 credit, a trip must start or end between 4:00 AM and 6:30 AM, Monday to Friday. Here are some examples: if you start your ride at 6:15 AM and get to work at 7:00 AM, the $8 credit will apply. If you start your trip at 6:35 AM, however, the credit will NOT be applied. Plan ahead to be sure your driver will arrive on time and your trip begins between 4:00 AM and 6:30 AM, Monday to Friday.
  • What if the Uber or Lyft ride costs more than $8? The remaining balance will be charged to your default payment method.
  • What if the Uber or Lyft ride costs less than $8? The MARTA Connect credit is UP TO $8. If the trip is less than $8, the credit will cover the full cost of the ride. Any remaining balance for that day cannot be used for other trips.
  • Do the credits roll over? No. There is one $8 credit per day available, Monday to Friday. The credits do not roll over week to week or month to month.
  • Do the credits apply to Lyft bikes and scooters? Yes!! The $8 credit on Lyft can be used for Standard Lyft, ebike, Classic bike and scooter rides.

What if I do not live near MARTA?

The new MARTA Connect service is best for those of you that can take MARTA back home at the end of the day. Aero knows this doesn’t work for everyone, so check out a few of our other blogs for additional help with finding your best way to work:
